State Government

Welcome

School of Government faculty members in various fields work with state agencies on issues of state law. Information about this work can be found in specific topics listed under Courses and Resources.

Faculty members consult frequently with legislative and executive branch staff on issues in their fields of expertise, and they often assist with legislative drafting. The School of Government's Legislative Reporting Service provides legislators, legislative staff, and executive branch officials with the Daily Bulletin and the Weekly Status Report during legislative sessions. At the end of each legislative session, the School produces online Legislative Summaries of significant legislation.

School faculty members work with the state associations that represent local government and with national associations such as the National Governors Association, the Council of State Governments, and the National Conference of State Legislatures. Our extensive work with the state's judicial branch is described on the Courts and Judicial Administration page. The School also holds an annual course, Public Law for the Public's Lawyers, that serves as the principal continuing legal education venue for attorneys in the legislature, the Department of Justice, and other state agencies.
