North Carolina Councils of Government are voluntary associations of county and municipal governments, established by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1972. This map indicates which counties are included in each Council of Government (GOG).

The 17 current regional associations handle services which are generally more economical to coordinate on a regional, rather than local level, including economic development, environmental protection, land-use planning, and services for the elderly.
