projectsThe Center for Public Technology, in conjunction with faculty and staff of the UNC Institute of Government and its extensive governmental experience, conduct applied policy and research projects. The projects are in collaboration with public and private sector partners and address technology issues of vital interests to target audiences. Technical Assistance/Consulting The Center provides consulting services to local governments in the area of Technology Planning and Management. CPT staff members are continuing to assist local jurisdictions in the implementation of e-Government projects through the LEG-UP program of the RIAA. Security Best Practices Team In the fall of 2002, CPT created a 'Security Best Practices Team' of IT professionals from local governments across North Carolina. The team is working to identify 'what works' in local IT security, and to develop a mechanism to share that knowledge with cities and counties to enavble them to secure their infrastructure against natural and un-natural disasters.
